The first steps
If a loved one dies in a hospital or in any other care institution, the staff there will guide you through the first stages and will ask you to choose a funeral home.
If the death occurs at home or any other place that is not a health institution, you must immediately call 911 and inform them that the person has died. The 911 operator will call Urgences Santé.
When a physician from Urgences Santé establishes the death, you should call Memoria as soon as possible so that we can take the body. Our funeral director will then set up a meeting with you. When the funeral director meets with you, he or she will provide you with advice on every detail of the funeral arrangements and will help you with the various procedures.
