Mme Balbina Carmelita Braga Moutinho

Balbina Carmelita Braga Moutinho of Montreal, Quebec, passed away on August 7, 2024, leaving a huge void in all our hearts.

Balbina was born in Boticas, Portugal in 1935 to Maria Carmelita, and was raised by her loving godparents, Palmira and Joaquim Rodrigues who taught her many of her wonderful skills like cooking, dress making and crocheting beautiful bedspreads, tablecloths and doilies.  Many fond memories chatting with her for hours as she sat at her doorsteps crocheting new projects.

At the age of fifteen, Balbina married her husband of 69 years, Antonio Moutinho. After just a few years, Balbina and Antonio headed to Montreal, Canada to start a new life with their family and Montreal became home.  Balbina devoted over 30 years to working in the clothing industry as a seamstress.

Balbina was a devoted mother to Basilio, Palmira, Carlos, Ana, Carol and Suzy [Ralph], her grandchildren, Stephanie [Elroy], Catherine, Peter and Isabel, and her great grandchildren, Reshaun and Emiya who were all her pride and joy.

Balbina took special joy in going on family picnics, and had fond memories of driving to Plattsburgh, NY with family and friends on early Sunday mornings to enjoy time on the beach and fresh barbecues on the grill.  Balbina also treasured every trip back to her home place in Boticas, Portugal where she would reminisce about her childhood memories.

Balbina was predeceased by her mother Maria, her husband Antonio, her children, Basilio, Palmira and Carol and is survived by her children Carlos, Ana, and Suzy, her grandchildren, Stephanie, and Catherine and her great grandchildren Reshaun and Emiya who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

Visitation is on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memoria Funeral Complex, 1120, rue Jean-Talon Est, Montréal, and the Funeral Mass Service Mass is on Thursday morning at 10:30 AM at Missao Santa Cruz 60 Rue Rachel Ouest, Montreal.  Burial will be at Notre-Dame Des Neiges Cemetery at 1:15PM.

É com profunda tristeza que comunicamos o falecimento repentino de Balbina Carmelita Moutinho, na quarta-feira, 7 de agosto de 2024, aos 89 anos. Amada esposa de 69 anos do falecido António Moutinho.

Sua falta sera muita sentida por seus amorosos filhos, Carlos, Ana, Suzy (Ralph), seus adorados netos Stephanie (Elroy), Catherine, Peter e Isabel e bisnetos Reshaun e Emiya e muitos outros familiares e amigos. Balbina foi uma esposa, mãe, avó e bisavó dedicada. Ela deixa um vazio enorme em nossas vidas, mas permanecerá para sempre em nossos corações.

A família receberá as condolências na quarta-feira, 14 de agosto, das 17h às 20h, no Complexo Funerário Memoria, 1120, rue Jean-Talon Est, Montreal, e uma missa fúnebre será realizada na quinta-feira, 15 de agosto, em 10h30 em Missao Santa Cruz, 60 Rue Rachel Ouest, Montreal, seguido de sepultamento no Cemitério Notre-Dame Des Neiges, 4601 Ch de la Côte des Neiges às 13h15.
