It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Maria De Falco (Carelli) on August 13th at the age of 87.
We take comfort that she is now reunited with her loving spouse of over 60 years, Mario Carelli, and her adored son Eugenio (Marie-Claude Lambert) with our heavenly Father. She is survived by her beloved daughter Gilda (Johnny Calabrese) and son Robert (Connie Scuccimarri), her cherished grandchildren David, Megan, Alexandre, Juliette, Emily and Jenna, as well as her brother-in-law Augusto (Domenica) and her sisters-in-law Giovannina (Pietro) and Ida (late Biagio), and her many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, who are deeply saddened and will miss her dearly.
She also joins her late brothers and sisters, Felice (Antonietta), Giuseppina (Giuseppe), Lina (Carmine), Raffaele (Dina) and Giovanni (Maria), and her late brothers-in-law, Antonio (Maria) and Carmine (Irene), and her late sisters-in-law, Maria (Isidoro) and Oresta (Giuseppe).
Caring, hard-working and elegant, Maria was generous to all, and inspired others with her calm and positive approach to life. She had a smile and light-hearted way to lift-up those around her. She always put her family first and was the family’s anchor. After leaving Italy in 1959 she worked tirelessly to care for her family and provide nourishing love as the family developed its roots in Montreal. She was a talented cook and baker as her family and many friends can attest with the endless lunches and dinners. She shall live on through those she loved and the precious memories that she created.
The family will receive condolences at Les Espaces Memoria (2159 Saint-Martin Boul. East, Laval) on Tuesday August 20 from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm, and on Wednesday August 21 from 9 to 10am.
The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday August 21 at 11am at Notre-Dame-de-la-Défense Church (6800 Henri-Julien Avenue, Montreal).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal or to any other charitable organization of your choice.
