Passed away peacefully in the presence of her family in the 95th year.

Above all else our mother was a survivor. She survived loosing half her family and her beautiful family estate in Ukraine to the Soviets. As a teenager she survived many hardship, hunger and a tortuous and dangerous journey with her father and sister (Klova) across all of Europe by horse and buggy, on foot and finally, in cattle cars which brought them to D.P. camps in Gemany where they were forced to work as slave labourers. But she survived. After the war, she emigrated to Canada and married her husband, Stefan, who tragically pre-deceased her at a very young age.

In Canada, she and Stefan volunteered with numerous Ukrainian community organizations and set about raising and educating a family, wich, to our mother, was her greatest legacy and source of ful-fillment. Her son, Taras "Terry" (Jenny), daughter Lesia (Wayne), (Al-predeceased), grandchildren Katherine (Luigi), Daniel (Dahlia) and great-grandchildren Luca and Alessia were her singular joy and brought her immense pride, satisfaction and happiness. She will also be missed by her sister Klova, and niece Nadia in Toronto.

Her last years were spent at the CHSLD Polonais Marie-Curie Sklodowska, where christian faith sustained her. The professionals and staff there, can never be given too many thanks and we send them our sincerest gratitude for their kindness.

Visitation at Alfred Dallaire Memoria, 3254 de Bellechasse, Montreal, on Sunday January 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Panachyda at 7 p.m., Funeral service at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church on Monday, January 10 at 10 a.m., followed by Burial at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that any donations be made to the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary or St. Mary's Hospital Foundation. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
