Mme Olga Osakiwsky née Sawaryn

With a life well-lived, at the age of 91, Olha Osakiwsky (Sawaryn), born in Stryj, Duliby, Western Ukraine, died peacefully following a short illness at Santa Cabrini Hospital in Montreal on Thursday, July 11, 2019. Olha/Baba/Pra-Baba will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, exceptional grandmother and proud great-grandmother.

Pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Peter Osakiwsky (2000), and her sister Irena Lebed (2017), Olha was a devoted mother to Mary and Ihor (Mary Jo), grandmother to Teressa (Glenn), Andrea (Andrij), Pavlo (Victoria), Kathleen, Luke (Laura) and Pra-Baba to Solomia and Arsen, as well as an aunt to many nieces and nephews in Ukraine and USA.

Proud of her Ukrainian heritage and honoured to be a Canadian citizen, Olha enjoyed singing and telling her stories of life before (during and after the Second World War), her voyage to Canada, settling in Montreal to work, meeting her future husband, having children and being an active member in her Ukrainian community.

Visitation at Alfred Dallaire Memoria, 3254 Bellechasse, on Sunday July 14, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (with a Panachyda at 7:30 p.m.). The funeral will take place on Monday, July 15, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, followed by burial at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
