It is with great sorrow that we that we announce that Rose (Rosie) fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Montreal at the age of 92. What a grand lady. She was the widow of the late Michael Arlamowsky (1994). She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by many. Born in the town of Fedorovka, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine, on March 17, 1925, she was the sole remaining of seven siblings. She survived the Holodomor Famine (1932-33) however her parents, Maria and Paul, did not. As such, she was left an orphan and was placed in an orphanage. During world War Il she worked in an army factory in Germany. Once the war ended and as a displaced person, she worked on a farm in Germany. In 1949, she immigrated to Canada on a contact to work on a farm in Nova Scotia. Her salary was $35 a month with a deduction for living expenses. In 1950 and after completing her contact, Rose moved to Montreal, where she met and married Michael in 1952. They took up residence in Ahunstic, where Rose took much pride in her lifelong home. Rose enjoyed cooking whit the help of her close friend, the late Lesik (2016). He was like a son to her and always helped her with preparing holobtchi. Rose loved animals and she always had a pet dog; Lily her current companion, will surely miss her. Rose had numerous feathered pets throughout her life and continued to feed the wild and squirrels every day. Her love of life, her courage and her wit inspired us all. Rose is survived by relatives in U.S. and Canada. She will be sadly missed by Genia, Halyna, Oleg, Derek, Alexandra, Donna, Frank, Olga, Henry, and Yolanda. Sincere gratitude is extended to the doctors at the Fleury Hospital, especially Dr. Geneviève Herard, the nurses, patient attendants, and allied staff for their devotion and compassion. To our dearest Rose, may you rest in peace.
