Mr. Antonio Almeida Castro

Antonio Castro passed away peacefully on December 1st at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer.

Loving husband for 50 years of Rosa Velosa, cherished father of Carmen (Mark), Monica (Reece) and Paulo. Devoted grandfather of Yanic, Rachel, Kara, Ella, Adriana and Alex and recent great grandfather of Leandro. Antonio is also cherished by many close friends and family as well as the entire Portuguese community where he was better known as “Toto” on the radio program Portugalissimo making people laugh for 26 years. Antonio will also be greatly missed by his GDI family and Local 800, as the Union President (Comité de base) he worked until the very end, devoting evenings and weekends to be the voice to those who couldn’t speak for themselves.

Condolences will be received on Saturday December 4^th at 11:00 AM at Santa Cruz church, 60 rue Rachel Ouest followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Fondation Champlain et Manoir-de-Verdun (Palliative Care Unit)
