It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father and grandfather Antonio Giacobbe on August 23rd, 2022.

He is survived by his wife Maria Borazio and his children Joseph (Anna), Robert (Robin), and Sergio (Vicky). Nonno of Eri, Evan (Jess), Jamie, Leah, Sean and Tommy. He will also be greatly missed by his sister Helena (Angelo) and brother Giacomo.

Antonio was born in rural Italy, left at a young age to travel and work in nearby countries, and eventually undertook the long voyage to Canada in search of a better life for himself, his younger siblings, and the family he would have.

He never let his lack of formal education get in the way of learning new ideas and technologies, demonstrating an often-surprising creativity, or expressing his strong opinions. Antonio will be remembered for his love of tinkering, appreciation for opera, passion for fine workmanship and, overall, his balanced approach to life. His secret to longevity was simple: eat well, sleep well and stay inquisitive and active.

Special thank you to the palliative care team at the Jewish General Hospital and the care staff of the 4th floor of the Glenmount Residence.

His family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday August 31st between 14:00-17:00 and 19:00-21:00 at Alfred Dallaire Memoria located at 2159 Boul. Saint-Martin Est, Laval, QC H7E 4X6. A funeral mass will be held in his honor on Thursday September 1st at 11AM at Our Lady of Pompei Church (2875 Rue Sauvé E, Montreal QC, H2B 1C6) followed by his burial at Saint-Martin Mausoleum (2159 Boul. Saint-Martin Est, Laval, QC H7E 4X6).
