Hugues Camille died on March 22, 2021 of a cardiac arrest, following the aggravation of the diabetes from which he was afflicted. Despite everything, he always remained lucid and full of attention for his entourage.

Hugues was a passionate man who notably expressed his passion mainly in his two favourite pastimes, music and painting.

He loved all types of music, Haitian, Caribbean, Latin American, African and Western in general, which he listened to at all times.

Under the signature of “Nèganba”, he painted, with great talent and a very personalized style, hundreds of paintings full of emotion over the years. They showed a constant fascination with history, especially that of his beloved homeland, “Ayiti”.

Hugues had a big heart and was a tender, warm and generous man; he was a fundamentally sweet, loving and charming being who carried a lot of love and humor in him. He loved nothing better than to be surrounded by the people he loved. He was also a sincere friend to the multitude of his friends who all loved him.

His family was important to him: he was always present for his siblings, especially his brother Ernst and sister Marlène, whom he supported in their old age. Beloved husband of Manon, he was also the proud father of Joseph Vladimir (Kimberley) and Kassandra (Jean-François), the loving grandfather of Aiden, Ashley, Andrew and Ellika (whom he unfortunately could not see very often), the brother-in-law of Beulah, the godfather of Shirer as well as the caring father-in-law of Manon’s children, Michel (Stéphanie) and Daniel. He was also the son-in-law of Pierrette and Fidèle, the brother-in-law of Serge (Louise), Carole (Allan) and Diane (John), as well as the uncle of their children.

Dear Hugues, since it has been God’s will, rest eternally in peace with your parents, Joseph and Carmen (Falouzeau), your brothers Yves, Guy, Serge and Ernst, and your sister Marlène.

I sorely miss you, but this is merely a farewell; the love we have shared will remain forever etched in my heart.

Manon
