It is with great sadness that Vincent and Yzabelle Martineau announce the passing of their beloved mother, Michèle Drouin, on Sunday, September 16, 2018, six days after celebrating her 85th birthday. Widow of Sam Abramovitch, she is fondly remembered by her family and her late husband’s family: daughter-in-law Vivian Huang; grandchildren Céline, Simone and Charles-Étienne Martineau, Tristan and Benjamin Barsky; sisters Pierrette Letarte (Charles) and Ginette Drouin as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Known for her abstract painting, Michèle Drouin graduated from École des beaux-arts de Québec and received an MFA in art education at Sir George William University (Concordia) in Montréal. She was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Art in 1992. She had held hundreds of solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the United States, France, England and Tunisia. Her paintings can be found in many museums, and corporate and private collections in North America and Europe. In addition to her distinguished art career, Michèle Drouin was also a published poet with a lifelong passion in cinema, dance, theatre, music and literature. She had a special love for her country home in Abercorn, Québec, where she painted, took care of the gardens and animals, and cooked delicious feasts for her family.

Family will receive condolences at the Alfred Dallaire MEMORIA Funeral Home (4231 blv St-Laurent, Montreal, Qc) Saturday, October 6th  from 1 to 5 pm, service shall be held at the parlor at 3:30 pm. Valet parking available.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Society Alzheimer or Institut Universitaire de géréatrie de Montréal would be greatly appreciated.
