Mrs. Maria Filijowycz

It is with great sadness and heavy heart that the family of Maria (nee Mallozzi) announces her passing on Dec.30, 2020, three weeks short of her 90^th birthday. 
Maria was born in Minturno, Italy. She left her homeland at a young age with her sister, Giovanna, after WW11 arriving to Montreal to start a new life. Together they initiated the process of sponsoring some of their family members to come to Canada. Maria, met her tall, dark haired and handsome husband, Wasyl, and was married on Jan. 28, 1956. Together they started their family life of almost 65 years. She enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren, engaging in the community activities, sharing stories about her family and travelling. She leaves behind her loving children Marika (Andrey) and John, grandchildren Laryssa (Robb) and Paul and great grandchildren Harper Darcia and Amara Charlotte.

She was predeceased by her parents, Fausta and Pietro, sister, Lucia (Stephano), brothers, Alessandro, Domenico (Rosa), Raffaele and Salvatore. Survived by sisters, Giovanna (Gennaro), Concetta (Guilio) and, Immaculata, brother Guiseppe (Pina) and sister in laws Pina and Maria along with many nieces and nephews.

A private family church service will be held on January 1. 2021 at ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Ukrainian Catholic Church at 6185 10th Ave, Montreal, Quebec at 3:00 pm and burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
