Mr. Giuseppe Miserendino

1921 - 2018

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe (Pino) Miserendino, at the age of 96, husband of the late Giuseppina (Pina) Giannantonio. Surrounded by his loving family, he left us peacefully on February 8, 2018. He leaves in mourning his son Marco (Marie), his daughter Paola (Tullio), his grandchildren (Giuliano, Laura and Gabriele), as well as many relatives and friends.

Pino was an exceptional man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Born in Petralia Sottana (Palermo) in 1921, he left Italy in 1947, after the Second World War and headed for Belgium, where he studied watchmaking. Pino then sets sail for Montréal in 1959. Just one year after arriving by boat, he opens his own jewellery store at 210 St-Zotique East in Montreal’s Little Italy. A few years later, he meets Pina, born into a family of jewellers in Campobasso. A love story begins between the watchmaker and the jeweller.

From their union, two children are born, Marco and Paola. In 1973, Pino and Pina move the business to the current premises of Bijouterie Italienne located at 192, St-Zotique East. They are part of the many generations of immigrants who shaped the streets of Little Italy as we know it today, friendly and rich in tradition.

Over the years, Pino was always passionate about the family business he and Pina had worked very hard to build, leaving a legacy which his children took over in 1992. Pino also enjoyed the happiness of being a grandfather to Laura, Gabriele and Giuliano, whom he adored.

The family will receive condolences and honour his memory at the Alfred Dallaire Funeral Home, 1120 Jean-Talon Street East, Montreal. Parking available across the street, corner of Jean-Talon Street and Christophe-Colomb Avenue.
