Mr. Giuseppe Sciortino

Giuseppe Sciortino, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed lawyer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 31, 2024, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. Born in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Giuseppe's journey began with a courageous leap at the age of 16 when he left Italy to forge a new life in Quebec.

In his new homeland, Giuseppe dedicated himself to his studies and became a respected lawyer. His professional achievements paralleled a rich personal life. He met and married the love of his life, Elda Verrillo, and together they built a family grounded in love, respect, and strong values.

Giuseppe's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Elda; his daughter Lucrezia, her husband Mike Della Felice, and their children Julia and Chiara; his son François-Joseph, his partner Laurence Larue, and their children Lily and Siena; and his youngest daughter Carmelina. Each of them carries forward his spirit of determination, love, and commitment.

Giuseppe is now reunited in eternal peace with his parents, assuredly resting in a place of happiness and no pain. His memory is cherished by numerous nieces and nephews, special friends both in Canada and Italy, as well as his sisters Nicolina and Lila, and his brother Santo, all of whom were close to him and enriched his life.

Giuseppe Sciortino will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and his professional integrity. He had a significant impact on the legal field and the local Italian community. A committed activist, he defended workers' rights, human rights, and linguistic rights. His legacy continues to inspire all who knew him, and the impact he had on society through his work as a public figure will be remembered for generations to come. His contributions to his community and the legal field have left an indelible mark, making him a role model for many.
