Mr. Ivan Dolinsek

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan Dolinsek Sr. on August 31^st, 2023, at the age of 77. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Hedvika (née Kegu), his children Ivan Jr. (Sylvia Gadzinski) and Natalie, his sister Breda (Tony Lipovsek), as well as his granddaughters Katryna and Mikayla, all of which will miss him greatly. Predeceased by his brother Milan, he also leaves behind his nieces, nephews, and the rest of his family back in his home country of Slovenia.

Born in Celje, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) on June 3^rd, 1946, he immigrated to Canada in 1964, joining his parents, who had arrived a few years prior. His high school sweetheart, Hedvika, arrived to join him soon after, and they got married in 1966. Happily settled in Montreal, they started their family and pursued the classic North American dream. Ivan maintained a career as a welder for over 35 years, but it was his longtime passion for fishing and the outdoors that he will be the most remembered for.

Visitation will take place at the Memoria Funeral Home located at 3254 Rue de Bellechasse (corner of St-Michel Blvd.) on Saturday, September 16^th, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A brief prayer ceremony will be held at 7:00pm in the salon. The inurnment will take place at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery at a later date.
