It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Manuel after a lengthy and courageous battle. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal on April 28th 1929, he passed away peacefully at Residence Riviera in Laval on July 14th 2017.
Manuel will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Ludovina (nee Chaves) as well as his children, Jorge (Elena), Isabel (Luciano), Gary (Joanne), Alan and (late) Kim Anne.
He was affectionately known as " vovô " to his grandchildren, David (Stephanie), Kimberly (Erik), Stephanie (Darren), John, Jessica (Henrique) and Anthony Michael (Jo-Anna)
He will also be greatly missed by his siblings, José (Goretti), Gabriella (late Celso), Antonio (Luisa), Jorge (Deanna), Margarida (late Jermias) as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.
The Da Ponte family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Residence Riviera for the care and compassion they demonstrated throughout his stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Laval Society would be appreciated.
