Mrs. Franca Mazza
1961 - 2021
On Thursday, August 5th, 2021 Franca Mazza passed away peacefully in Montreal surrounded by her family. Born in Italy to parents Francesco and Maria Mazza, Franca will be greatly missed by her children, Marinella and Luca (Catherine Macdonald), her brother, Giuseppe and mother, Maria.
She first worked in hospitality with the airline industry and soon transitioned to a career as a chef, opening the Montreal institution Il Mulino. Over her forty-year career, she was known for her magnetic personality, eccentric style and boundless creativity. Her love and passion for the culinary world took her to New York and as far afield as Vietnam where she shared her talents and expertise with countless friends, clients and collaborators.
Franca was vibrant, loving and curious. She viewed the world with an open mind and strove to experience all that life had to offer.
