Nadia Smalecko, age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday night August 5 th 2017 in Montréal.
Nadia was born in Khodoriv, western Ukraine. Daughter of Maximi and Dariae.
She was the eldest of five children and was married to Sergei Kalushny (1918-1973).
She is survived by her son Wasyl (Bill) Kalushny. His wife Elisa Dominguez. Grand Children Victoria and Wasyl (Billy) and his wife Patricia Côté. Great-grand-children Matthew, Alexander, Sarah, Nicholas and Anastasia.
Nadia will be missed by her family and friends. She will be forever remembered for her sage advice and her most positive outlook on life. She was an inspiration to all that knew her, facing challenges head-on. Nadia was an example of perseverance and determination. Nadia will be remembered as a bright, shinning light in her church which she cherished.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm, panachyda at 7:30 pm on Friday August 11th at the Alfred-Dallaire Funeral Home, 3254 rue de Bellechasse, Montréal, Qc, H1X 1H8, 514-277-7778.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 12th at 9:30 am at St-Sophie’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 6255 Boulevard St-Michel, Montréal, Qc, H1Y 2E8.
Burial will follow at the Mount-Royal Cemetery, 1297 rue Foret, Outremont, Qc, H2V 2P9.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to “St Raphael Palliative home and day center” or to the Canadian Cancer Society
