Giuseppe Nicolò was born in Fossato Ionico, Calabria in March 1928.
War broke out in Italy when he was just 11 years old. He left his home town at the age of 17 by walking and hitchhiking through Mont Blanc and settled in France where he landed a job in a tooling company and eventually promoted to foreman. He earned enough money to come to Montreal arriving on St-Jean-Baptiste Day in 1951.
In a depressed economy, he found night employment in a factory whose products exposed him to asbestos which came to haunt him 60 years later.
In 1956 Joseph married the love of his life Angela Scaramuzzino. Together they settled in a tiny apartment on Casgrain street in little Italy where they had 3 daughters.
Being a visionary, he purchased a semi commercial property at the Jean-Talon market, a bold move that would eventually become the cornerstone of his real estate business. He later left briefly for Florida where he built single family homes in Hollywood.
Mr Nicolo became one of the innovative pioneers of renovation in Montreal.

He is survived by his wife Angela Scaramuzzino, his daughters Maria, Josee and Sandra, his sons-in-law Tony Mariani, Gil Couto, Lorenzo Mancini and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild.
He will be missed by all.
