Michael was a handsome, cheerful and popular person with a great many friends. He was blessed with a big heart and a giving spirit. For him, there were no strangers. Michael gave much of his time to help family, friends and even strangers. His outreach to others included his long involvement with Cocaine Anonymous. Michael fought hard against his own addiction and achieved two long stretches of sobriety, one of seven years and another of ten years.

Michael will be remembered for his generosity. As an example, he supported and corresponded with a child in Africa for over 20 years. Furthermore Michael was filled with the love of adventure, taking him to many countries, cultures and the wilderness. He travelled extensively, including India, Turkey, and Central America.

He was a very good athlete and completed many marathons, including Hawaii and New York. On two occasions he almost broke 3 hours. In 1984, he and a group of elite cross-country skiers completed a cross-Quebec excursion in excess of 1,000 kilometers.

He is survived by his children Gaëlle, Alexis, Daphné, his brothers David, Eric and Stephen, as well as his father David Sr.

The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers, friends and family donate to their favorite charities.

The visitations will be held at the Alfred Dallaire MEMORIA funeral home, located 1111 Avenue Laurier Ouest, Outremont. Viewing hours on Sunday January 5th 2020 at 2-5 PM (open casket viewing) and 7-10PM (closed casket viewing). Valet parking offert.
