Etelvina Pedro (Née Amado Carvalho) passed away late afternoon Thursday the 20th of June 2024.

Born in the village of Alqueidao da Serra (near Fatima, Portugal), daughter of Jacinto Carvalho and Celeste Vieira Amado, second eldest of 10 children (Maria, Jose (deceased), Luis (deceased), Mario, Celeste, Carmita, Manuel, Garcia, and Leiticia). She came to Canada after marrying her husband Fernando Pedro (deceased) in 1961, to build a better life for their family, and setting roots in Montreal. She is survived by her eldest child and daughter, Carmen, her two sons, Helder and Kelvin, her grandchildren Sean Czako and Krya Czako, her son-in law Robert, and daughter-in-law Silvana Pugliese.

She will be missed by her many nephews and nieces, in addition to friends both in Canada and Portugal, all of whom cherished her and were dear to her.

Nothing was dearer to her than her family, especially the joy her grandchildren gave her. Never was her voice far from a song, often expressing “saudades” for her native country of Portugal.

Her love, her feistiness, her will and determination, will be missed. Our heartfelt thanks for the dedicated caregivers at the CHSLD in Pierrefonds for their humanity.

In lieu of flowers (which Etelvina loved) she also found it wasteful, which is why they loved their flower garden, we ask that you consider instead a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Canada.

Viewing at the Espaces MEMORIA funeral home (2159, St-Martin Blvd. East, Laval, Qc H7E 4X6) starting on Friday, June 28th from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 10pm.

Funeral to be held at the Santa Cruz Church (60, Rachel Street West, Montreal, Qc) on Saturday, June 29th at 11:30am. Entombment will follow at the Mausolée St-Martin in Laval, Qc.
