Zlata Novakov-Kistler, at only 36 years old, passed away on Friday May 26 in Montreal at the McGill University Health Centre (The Glen).

She was born in Backa Topola near Novi Sad, Serbia on July 15, 1980 to proud parents Slavica Tomasevic and Jovan Novakov, and grew up with three adoring brothers, Marko, Milan, and Bogdan.

She married the love of her life, Nathan Kistler, in Taos, New Mexico on October 21, 2006.  Together they lived in and explored many countries.

They produced two beautiful girls, Mila on February 20, 2013 and Isabella on April 21, 2015.  Zlata and Nate were very proud that the girls were born in Serbia to reflect her heritage and also made them both US and Canadian citizens.

Zlata cherished motherhood, being a wife, and providing the sincerest of friendships. She inspired both her family and friends and gave them endless love. She exuded selflessness, authenticity, morals, and enjoyed everything life had to offer. She never stopped wanting to give and never gave up on anyone. She had an effortless style, the warmest of hearts, a brilliant mind, and will be forever and dearly missed.

A service is being held this Thursday June 1st from 2:45 – 3:30 with a reception to follow at the Alfred Dallaire Memoria (1120 rue Jean Talon Est, Montreal, QC, H2R 1V9, Canada). There will also be services in the US and Serbia at a later date. (Information to be provided if you subscribe to this website.)
