It is with great sadness that the family of Armando Valente announce his passing on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at the age of 90.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife Maria da Glória Marques Valente, his children José (Silvia), Maria Glória and António (Emma), his cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Mikaël, Klaudia, Vanessa, Lucas, Sofia, Mathias and Zoé, and great grandchildren Nathan and Mikayla.
Armando was an incredibly strong and hardworking man. Born in Avanca, Estarreja, Portugal, he immigrated to Montreal in December 1963 where he settled in the Portuguese Quarter and proudly began working for the city of Montreal. Upon early retirement, he split his time between his home in Saint-Hubert and in Salreu, Portugal where he took pride in gardening an impressive vegetable and fruit garden, but most importantly, in making wine. Armando will be remembered for his impeccable work ethics, strength, honesty and pride in being Portuguese.
The family will receive condolences at Alfred Dallaire Memoria, 4231, boul. Saint-Laurent, Montréal, H2W 1Z4, on March 7th, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral will be held on March 8th, 2022 at 11:30 am at the Santa Cruz Portuguese church followed by the burial at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery on Mount Royal.
