Barbara Kwiatkowska (Chojnacka), 70, passed away at CHSLD Polonais Marie-Curie-Sklodowska on Friday, June 21st, 2019 after taking a sudden turn for the worse. She was born in Poland to the late Krystyna and Stefan Kwiatkowscy on April 8th, 1949. She is leaving behind her sister Anna (James), her daughter Magda (Chris), her grandchild Tyler and her niece Sabrina.
Basia, as she was usually referred to, was a strong, independent woman who fought hard to
build a new life in Canada, her adoptive country, after emigrating from Poland. Despite being
unable to practice as an electrical engineer here after earning her diploma overseas, she never
gave up trying to build a good life for her and her daughter as a single parent and never shied
from hard work and sacrifice to achieve her goals.
A fan of music and literature, Basia loved to read and spent many years singing in a choir. She
was able to pass her love of the written word to her daughter and her grandson. Despite a sarcastic
sense of humor and a serious illness later in life, she never ceased to hope for the best. She will
be missed fiercely by family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of CHSLD Polonais for the care they have provided her at the end of her life.
