JAROSLAWA WOLOSZCZAK

Mrs. Jaroslawa Kostjuk (born Woloszczak)

1918 - 2020

With broken and heavy hearts, we announce that Jaroslawa (Maria) passed away peacefully on June 10, 2020 in her 102nd year from complications of the Covid-19 virus. Predeceased by her husband Eugene and her beloved son Roman. Maria was the matriarch of the family and cherished mother to Dan (Giovanna) and Alex (Chantal), grandmother to Andrew (Carey-Ann), Evanna, Orysia (Chandler) and Markiian and great grandmother to John. She is survived by her brother Zeno Woloszczak in the Ukraine. Maria was born in the city of Yavoriv located in the Lviv region of western Ukraine and initially immigrated to Chicago and then on to Montreal where the family lived in Rosemount for many years.

She had a lengthy career at the Eaton’s store, where she worked in the gourmet department and made many friends through her knowledge of international foods and recommendations of coffee blends from around the world. Upon retirement she unselfishly dedicated her life to helping raise her grandchildren Andrew and Evanna and commuted daily across the city to be with them. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends.

At this time of unprecedented circumstances a memorial service will not be held. A private ceremony will take place at a later date at her mausoleum where her urn will be laid to rest alongside her husband. Donations may be made to the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary, 6175 10th Ave, Montreal, Quebec H1Y 2H5.
