Jérôme Choquette, aged 89, passed away on Friday, September 1, in Montreal. He was a lawyer and member of the Barreau du Québec for 63 years, member of the legislative assembly for the electoral district of Outremont from 1966 to 1976, appointed consecutively as Minister of Financial Institutions, Minister of Justice and Minister of Education of Québec between 1970 and 1975, and served as mayor of Outremont from 1983 to 1991.

He is survived by his children Danielle (Ernest Roussy), Céline (Nicolas Garcia), Anita (Marc Larocque) and Frédéric (Irina Sarkisova), grandchildren Catherine Choquette, Édouard Choquette and Maria Choquette Stuart (Jacklin Turcot), great-grandchild Edouard Turcot, his brother Gilbert, many relatives and long-time friends.

The family will welcome you Friday, September 22 from 2 pm to 10 pm, and Saturday, September 23 from 11 am to 1 pm, at Alfred Dallaire MEMORIA, 1111, Laurier West Avenue, Montreal.  A religious ceremony will be held at the Saint-Enfant-Jésus du Mile End Church, 5035 Saint-Dominique Street, Montreal, Saturday, September 23, 2 pm. 

Since he was guided throughout his life by an ideal of social justice, memorial donations may be made to a social rights organization of your choice. The family warmly thanks the staff and nurses at the Centre d’hébergement Bruchési for their kindness and care during the past year.
