Mrs. Maria da Gloria Marques Valente

It is with great sadness that the family of Maria da Gloria Marques Valente announces her passing on Saturday, April 27^th, 2024 at the age of 87. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her children José (Silvia), Maria Glória (George) and António (Emma), his cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Mikaël, Klaudia, Vanessa, Lucas, Sofia, Mathias and Zoé, and great-grandchildren Nathan and Mikayla.

Maria da Gloria was an incredibly brave and hardworking woman, who was little in stature but big in personality. Born in Salreu, Estarreja, Portugal, she immigrated to Montreal in December 1963 where she settled in the Portuguese Quarter and began working. Throughout life, she was always a caretaker to those around her, from her children to her grandchildren and in later years, her husband. This care extended to those beyond her family, including all her beloved pets throughout the years, friends and even strangers. She will be remembered for her passion for singing, hard work, gardening, generosity and immense love for those in her care. 

The family will receive condolences at Memoria, 1120, rue Jean-Talon Est, Montréal, (Québec), H2R 1V9, on May 13^th, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on May 14^th from 10:00-12:00 followed by mass at 1:00 pm at the Santa Cruz Portuguese church followed by the burial at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
