Mrs. Mavis Giroux (née Campbell)

Mavis Giroux (née Campbell), age 80, of Laval passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 6, 2022. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Enzo) and Paul (Marjo); Grandchildren, Maxime (Nandini), Alexandre, Mathieu, Simon, and Kina; Her sisters Janet and Heather as well as her brother Alan and their children; Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Claude.

She grew up in Outremont where she loved to tell stories of long walks in the park with her dad, Bill, and their dog, Wags. She married Claude in 1965, and together they dedicated a lifetime to car racing and to the racing community. She was a devoted and loving mother, not only to her children but to many others who crossed her path, however briefly.

She loved fiercely, gave advice freely and listened with patience. She loved to laugh and always enjoyed a good fight.  She did not want to be remembered with sadness, but with laughter.

We take comfort knowing that she has now joined Claude, the love of her life, and they are probably reorganising the Heavens as these words are being written. When you see that next bolt of lightning… Look up and smile.

A celebration of her life will be held at Alfred Dallaire, 2159 St-Martin Est, Laval on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 11am to 3pm and from 5pm to 9pm.

A brief commemoration will take place on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10am.

Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest at Cimetière St-Vincent-de Paul 3503, boul. Lévesque Est.

Mavis Giroux (née Campbell), 80 ans, de Laval, est décédée paisiblement dans son sommeil le jeudi 6 octobre 2022. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Patricia (Enzo) et Paul (Marjo); petits-enfants, Maxime (Nandini), Alexandre, Mathieu, Simon et Kina; ses sœurs Janet et Heather ainsi que son frère Alan et leurs enfants; Avant elle dans la mort était son mari bien-aimé, Claude.

Elle a grandi à Outremont où elle aimait raconter de longues promenades dans le parc avec son père, Bill, et leur chien, Wags. Elle a épousé Claude en 1965 et ensemble, ils ont consacré leur vie à la course automobile et à la communauté des courses. Elle était une mère dévouée et aimante, non seulement pour ses enfants, mais pour beaucoup d’autres qui ont croisé son chemin, même brièvement.

Elle aimait farouchement, prodiguait ses conseils librement et écoutait avec patience. Elle aimait rire et a toujours apprécié un bon combat. Elle ne voulait pas qu’on se souvienne d’elle avec tristesse, mais avec le sourire.

Nous sommes rassurés de savoir qu’elle a maintenant rejoint Claude, l’amour de sa vie, et qu’ils sont probablement en train de réorganiser les Cieux au même moment que ces mots sont rédigés. Quand vous voyez ce prochain éclair... Levez les yeux et souriez.

Une célébration de sa vie aura lieu à Alfred Dallaire, 2159 St-Martin Est, Laval le jeudi 13 octobre 2022, de 11h à 15h et de 17h à 21h.

Une brève commémoration aura lieu le vendredi 14 octobre 2022 à 10h.

Après la cérémonie, elle sera inhumée au Cimetière St-Vincent-de Paul 3503, boul. Lévesque Est
